HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (5 out of 5 stars), Dr. Joan E Aitken, Professor/Author, Jan 2011

This DVD is NOT for entertainment, fun for kids, or cultural education. This DVD facilitates memorization of vocabulary and rules to reinforce what an individual is learning in high school or college coursework.

The DVD is a useful tool in a multi-technique learning approach (taking a course, watching films in Spanish, watching a Spanish channel on television, using flashcards, listening to a CD while driving).

The format is comparable to a PowerPoint with a vocabulary word on each screen, along with sound pronunciation. The DVD uses colors, a picture to associate with most vocabulary words, and large print. The pace is slow enough so I can orally repeat each word 2-3 times before the next one. The DVD also provides grammar rules. In other words, the content is much like the instructional approach my professor uses at times in class so the DVD helps me review and learn a few extra vocabulary words.

Level 1 is comparable to the vocabulary and rules taught in the first couple weeks of my college course, which uses Pearson’s Anda: Curso Elemental. Level 1 content includes days of the week, numbers- the very basics.

Level 2 is comparable to the vocabulary and rules of the first 3-5 weeks of my university’s 16-week elementary Spanish course.

I keep one DVD in my small TV-DVD player all the time and run it for 5-30 minutes at a time daily. The sound is clear enough that I also can listen while I’m doing other things.

I’m delighted with the way it reinforces the content of my college course. Because I find learning a language challenging, I find this memorization aid worth the money for me.

I am still learning. Must watch it and re-watch it. That’s how it sinks in!
